Bendigo’s first Allstar Parent’s Team. Blitz Volcano’s.
It’s not often that we have athletes that come in on a Sunday morning, bright and early and dive for the Coffee Station to help wake them up. One by one, these athletes showed up, grabbed a hot coffee and caught up with there new team members, sharing a laugh or two about the upcoming information and introduction training session.
These are Cheer N Dance’s newest athletes, Blitz Volcano’s, more commonly known as the Parents Allstar team.
“We have always wanted to start a semi-competitive parent’s team and it has never really come together before.” Said Kim Manallack, Cheer N Dance Bendigo Owner and Head Coach. “It’s such an exciting time at the moment for the club and to see these parent’s having a go and experiencing Allstar Cheer is such a rush.”
The Blitz Volcano’s has been designed as a semi-competitive team that will train once a week on a Sunday for an hour and a half. “The social component of this team really came to the surface on the weekend and with the shorter training times, it’s really a good chance for these athletes to have fun, get fit and grow as a squad together.”
In a strange reversal, some of the younger CND Athletes braved the chilli mid-morning air to come and cheer on their parents. “Seeing our current Athlete’s come and demonstrate some skills and cheer on the Blitz Volcano’s was definitely a highlight of the week.”
The Blitz Volcano’s train each Sunday at 11am. As it is a semi-competitive Allstar team, it will be competing at only 1 smaller event this season and training fee’s are $300 per CND Parent and $400 per non CND Parent.
